Maybe, I was destined? I started sailing and boating at the age of 7 in Oshkosh Wisconsin. I was an active member of the Oshkosh Yacht Club and the Inland Lakes Yachting Association where I raced and crewed on a Varity of vessels including:
Butterflies, M-Scow, and E-Scows, Hobe Cats. In addition to sailing, my father owner a number of power boats that my friends and I enjoyed.
When I was ready, I moved to Texas, sailed on Lake Travis aboard a 22’ O’Day . After a few years I got the “fever” for a larger vessel. While scouring the classifieds in Soundings Magazine I saw an ad. It was for a correspondence course on
becoming a Yacht Broker after sending for the information to satisfy my curiosity and learning the course cost $250. I put it on the back burner. During that time I worked selling office equipment. A client who owned a bingo hall invited me to play, lady luck shined upon me and I won the $250.00
for the course, it seemed like an omen. So I purchased the course and moved to Ft. Lauderdale and started working for Sail-away Yachts.
After about a year, Pete Bollman sent a notice that he was expanding Bollman Yachts. He was opening an office in Ft. Lauderdale. I was the first broker in the Ft. Lauderdale office and eventually became one of the top brokers. Early in 2001 Pete
Bollman asked me if I would like to buy Bollman Yachts so he could resume sailing. On August 2, 2001 I purchased Bollman Yachts from Pete.
I now own and work a successful business.
Since the beginning of my career as a Yacht Broker I have sold sail and power vessels with a focus on offshore blue water capable vessels. I am knowledgeable in sailing and know how to focus on a client’s needs and wants. I
have taken the time to know my buyers as well as examining each and every vessel in detail that we sell. In doing so keeping with our ideal that Bollman Yachts has the clients best interest in mind, whether buyer or seller.

Born and raised
in a boating family on San Francisco Bay gave me a love for
yachting and the outdoors. After a life in Licensing, Marketing
and Land Development I realized that I needed to return to my
passion of boating; I traveled to England where I spent 5 months
acquiring my Royal Yachting Association and MCA Yachtmaster
Ocean Certificates, along with other related certifications.
My wife and I had
dreamt of circumnavigating the globe but our plans were happily
postponed due to having three children in three and a half
years!
Becoming a Yacht
Broker has been a logical progression of my life and work
experience, education and passion for boating. I enjoy listening
to my client's needs and finding the perfect boat to meet those
needs.

After
an active and industrious (workaholic) business career and a brief (boring)
retirement, I joined Bollman Yachts in 1999 as a yacht salesman/broker. My
prior experience, as a yacht owner, frequently trading boats, gives me an
informed perspective as a broker. My technical background as an engineer
contributes to my understanding of yacht machinery and systems. I have been
yachting much of my life, and currently hold a Florida Yacht Broker license
as well as a USCG captain’s license.
As a child I raced dinghies in Toronto harbour, and later in life raced
sailboats on Long Island Sound, and Narragansett Bay. Since 1978 I have
owned a series of racing sailboats, and finally in 1990 a 52 foot, ketch
rig, sailing yacht. During 14 years, this vessel cruised from Maine to
Venezuela frequently visiting Bermuda and most of the Caribbean islands. As
a professional captain I have experience on a variety of motor and sail
yachts, making both short and long-range deliveries.
After graduation from the University of Waterloo, with a degree in chemical
engineering, I worked as an engineer, trader, manufacturer, corporate
executive, business owner and investor. In my business career I traveled
extensively in Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Far East. I emigrated
from Canada to New York City in 1979, and migrated to Florida in 1998.

Lori
Goldstein has lived in Florida for 22 years, and has been a broker for 21 of
them. In fact, Lori was one of the founders of Bollman Yachts in 1984. She
is originally from New York, and learned to sail as a child on Chesapeake
Bay. She has cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and the Mediterranean.
Originally, her forte was bluewater cruising sailboats and her expertise in
this area is well known. However, as her dedicated clients have begun to
trade into trawlers and motoryachts, Lori has acquired a solid background in
these yachts as well. With so many years of knowledge and experience in the
yachting industry, she prides herself on helping her sellers present their
yachts for sale properly and professionally, so that they sell as quickly as
possible. Additionally, the buyers with whom she works often comment on her
ability to pinpoint the best boats for their needs at reasonable prices.
At least twenty of her clients have completed circumnavigations. She
can be reached easily on her cell phone or by email.

Blame it on “Sea Hunt”, blame it on Mike Nelson!
Growing up in Northern Ontario, Derek’s life was changed forever by that half-hour TV Show. The yearning to explore the world on a sailing boat has led to a life long relationship with the sea. From a 12-year cruise through the Caribbean, Pacific and Asian water on his own boats, to Charter then
Delivery Captain, to finally a Yacht Broker (and Agent for Van de Stadt). With 150,000 sailing miles on a myriad of different vessels, to destinations far across the globe, Derek offers an interesting insight to the cruising lifestyle.

Russell W. Schafer was born and raised in Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida, the Yachting Capital of the World. Specializing in
Motor Yacht and Sportfishing Yacht sales, he is the third generation in his
family to be in the boat building / boat sales industry. He states, “I was
raised with a Fishing Family and was fishing tournaments at 10 years of age.
Boating is in my blood, mixed with a little bit of saltwater. My idea of
success is enjoying what one does for a living, and I really enjoy selling
yachts.” This attitude, combined with his knowledge of yachts and
seamanship, as well as a family history of yachting has led to Russell’s
success today.
Key also to his success is listening to his client and putting the client’s
interests first and foremost. He finds a great deal of satisfaction in doing
the footwork and researching the current yacht market, in order to find the
best fit for his client in yacht design and features, as well as in
negotiating the best price possible. When selling a client’s yacht, he uses
his expertise to determine a current, yet competitive market value along
